About WLRA:
WLRA-FM - (WLRA - Lewis RAdio) went on the air in 1972 on 88.1fm, licensed as a non-commercial-educational radio station. WLRA is a student run college radio station at Lewis University playing the "traditional college radio" format in 2-4 hours blocks. WLRAs music formats range from alternative, rock, reggae & calypso, country, rap, multi-cultural, talk, news, and Lewis University sports. Lewis Universitys WLRA Radio was the first college radio station in the country to become entirely digital and created the slogan "digital radio - press Start". The state of the art broadcasting studios and transmitters are located in The Andrew Center for Electronic Media on the Lewis University Romeoville campus. In addition to WLRA being campus media, broadcasting to the region, and streaming worldwide, it is a lab for Radio/TV & Broadcast Journalism Communications students. The station is FCC licensed to Romeoville, Illinois, USA, and serves the Chicago/greater Joliet region. The station is a member of the National Association of Broadcasters, Illinois Broadcasters Association, and Broadcast Education Association. The station is licensed to and owned by Lewis University.
